Jamie’s Journey

With a background in dance and teaching children various styles for 15 years, I was always aware of the powerful effects that moving my body had on my mind. After falling in love with yoga and meditation classes, and gaining inspiration from my practice, I went on to become a fully certified yoga instructor with the aim to share the many benefits Yoga has to offer, with this the native soul was created.

My personal story is not an uncommon one. I struggled with her mental health from a young age which led to being clinically diagnosed with depression at 16. My family and friends supported me through this whilst I spent many years on different medications, counselling and alternative therapies, countless self-help books and long bouts of giving up believing I would never find peace or happiness.

In my late 20s I took my first step towards yoga, which for me wasn't that scary as I had danced my whole life. Like most people my perception of yoga was that it was just another exercise class, but I was opened up to a whole new world.

Over time, with regular practice of meditation and physical postures my view of the world, people around me and more importantly myself, changed. Finding Yoga Nidra was like coming home! There has been a progressive shift with negative thinking patterns and I'm more emotionally resilient during stressful situations. I'm sure as my journey continues Yoga will prove to be the best decision I ever made!

Yoga has helped me realise there is a better way of managing life. Yes, it requires effort but it also requires a special kind of rest! And I hope to help you on your journey to go deeper into the union of mind, body and soul.
